Ardonagh Advisory has agreed to acquire chartered insurance broker RK Henshall and Co as it looks to expand in the north west.
Cheshire-based RK Henshall and Co specialises in commercial insurance and has a range of schemes through its air underwriting division.
It employs 35 people and was established in 1976.
“We look forward to welcoming RK Henshall’s team to Ardonagh,” Richard Tuplin, chief executive at Advisory Insurance Brokers, said.
“It builds our presence in the north west and south Cheshire with an outstanding client-centric team with strong ties to their clients and community.”
Moves
Directors John Henshall and Allen Simpson will remain in the business, with Henshall continuing to lead it.

He will report to Stephen Boyd, the northern managing director at Advisory Insurance Brokers.
“As a second-generation family business, selling to a bigger firm was a massive decision,” Henshall said.
“It was really important to find a business that understood and supported our culture and that would ultimately mean a stronger proposition for our clients.
“In Ardonagh we’re joining forces with a dynamic and growing business, bringing even greater opportunities for our people and clients.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
