Ardonagh Advisory has acquired Southport Insurance Brokers Limited (SIB) to strengthen is presence in the North West.
Founded in 1965, SIB provides cover across a range of risks and has expertise in the industrial, care and agricultural sectors.
Its team of around 20 employees provide support from the firm’s Southport base.
“SIB is a high-quality regional broker with clear specialisms that has earned the respect of its longstanding client-base over many decades by delivering excellent service,” Richard Tuplin, chief executive of Advisory Insurance Broking, said.
“Within Ardonagh Advisory we’ve developed real expertise in giving our new businesses everything they need to remain client centric, while also giving them the platform to reach the next level.”
‘Great home’
As part of the deal, SIB managing director Ian Robertson will continue to lead the business.

He will be supported by his existing management team.

Roberston added that Ardonagh Advisory was a “great home” for SIB, with the transaction providing opportunities to grow.

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
