’Her appointment forms part of our ongoing growth plans,’ says chief executive
Arch Insurance International has named Kirsten Valder as its new deputy chief executive.
Valder will be based in London and take responsibility for supporting the development and evolution of platforms in the London market, UK regional market, Australia, Bermuda and the EU.
She will take up the role effective immediately and report to chief executive Hugh Sturgess.
“Her appointment forms part of our ongoing growth plans, as we look to boost our overall market position and amplify our value and offering to brokers and customers,” Sturgess said.
Experience
Valder has been part of Arch’s senior leadership team for 10 years and was chief claims officer until 2021.

She was then promoted to chief administrative officer, a position that saw her take responsibility for claims, legal, human resources and compliance.
“Kirsten has played a leading role in the expansion of Arch Insurance International,” Sturgess said.
“Her deep understanding of our organisation, coupled with her wealth of technical and market knowledge, make her a natural fit for the role.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
