Aon has promoted Mona Barnes to the role of global chief claims officer.
Barnes joined the broker in October 2023 to oversee the teams of claims professionals in its global broking centre and UK claims functions.
In her new role, she will lead claims across Aon’s practice worldwide and work closely with the firm’s global leaders.
The appointee will also report into Joe Peiser, chief executive of commercial risk.
Peiser said: “Since joining Aon, Barnes has demonstrated exceptional leadership and brought invaluable expertise across a wide range of risk classes and complex claims.
“Her innovative approach and commitment to excellence make her a perfect fit for this role.”
Experience
In her most recent role, Barnes led Swiss Re group’s key case and large loss management team.

She also worked at Chubb for 12 years, working her way up to vice president of overseas general claims.
She is also an active participant in industry forums, including the Rand Institute for Civil Justice.

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
