’We are confident her stewardship will further enhance our relationships with clients, colleagues, insurers and partners,’ says chief executive

Aon has promoted Mona Barnes to the role of global chief claims officer.

Barnes joined the broker in October 2023 to oversee the teams of claims professionals in its global broking centre and UK claims functions.

In her new role, she will lead claims across Aon’s practice worldwide and work closely with the firm’s global leaders.

The appointee will also report into Joe Peiser, chief executive of commercial risk.

Peiser said: “Since joining Aon, Barnes has demonstrated exceptional leadership and brought invaluable expertise across a wide range of risk classes and complex claims.

“Her innovative approach and commitment to excellence make her a perfect fit for this role.”

Experience

In her most recent role, Barnes led Swiss Re group’s key case and large loss management team.

She also worked at Chubb for 12 years, working her way up to vice president of overseas general claims.

She is also an active participant in industry forums, including the Rand Institute for Civil Justice.

Peiser said: “Barnes’ appointment underscores Aon’s dedication to delivering best-in-class claims outcomes and services for our clients – one of our key differentiators.

“We are confident her stewardship will further enhance our relationships with clients, colleagues, insurers and partners across all aspects of claims.”
