’We’ve developed this with our customers in mind,’ says managing director
Allianz has launched a new car essentials insurance option as it looks to expand in the personal lines market.
The proposition features cover for child car seats, electric charging cable liabilities, windscreen chips and repairs, third party liabilities, accidental damage and fire and theft.
Motor legal expenses, courtesy car, protected no claims discount and breakdown cover are also available as optional extras for customers.
The proposition, which is managed digitally, is available to purchase directly on Allianz’s UK website and price comparison websites.
When making a claim, customers also have access to a 24-hour UK claims line so that they can speak to someone instantly.
Serge Raffard, managing director for personal lines at Allianz, said: “We’re very excited to launch our new car essentials insurance into the UK personal lines market and provide more choice to customers who are looking for great value protection for their car.
“We’ve developed this with our customers in mind, looking at their requirements and needs, our own claims experience and Defaqto criteria.
“We do understand customers want to speak to someone when making a claim and this is an important element we include.”
Personal lines launch
This comes after the Allianz brand launched into the personal lines market back in March 2024 with a digital car insurance product.

On 1 May 2024, the insurer also rebranded LV=Broker to Allianz in a move it said was a “key step in growing the Allianz brand across the personal lines market”.
“We’re excited to help land our Allianz global brand as a well-known and trusted household name in the UK for car and home insurance and these products will help us do that,” Raffard said.
“We’re also really looking forward to extending the Allianz brand though our planned marketing and sponsorship opportunities and demonstrate the value of being part of the number one global insurance brand.”
