’He brings the depth of expertise and fresh thinking we need to achieve our ambitions,’ says chief executive
Specialist insurer HDI Global has appointed Tom Major as its new chief claims officer.
Major will join from Allianz Commerical, where he has served as the UK head of claims since June 2022.
The former British Army captain joined the insurer in 2012 as a business strategy analyst before moving into underwriting in 2013, with him taking up the role of junior underwriter.
This role saw him focus on construction all risks, erection all risks and inherent defects insurance.
He became a senior underwriter in 2017, a role held for three years before becoming head of property, entertainment, energy and construction claims for the global corporate and specialty business in 2020.
Major will join HDI Global on 7 February 2025 and report to Stephanie Ogden, chief executive for the UK and Ireland.
Ogden said: “Once again, we change the pace and attract new talent.
”I am thrilled to welcome Major to HDI to lead a crucial function here in the UK and Ireland.
“Major brings the depth of expertise and fresh thinking we need to achieve our ambitions and deliver consistent high levels of service for our brokers and clients.”
Team growth
His appointment comes after Ogden, who became top boss in June 2024, unveiled a new c-suite team in September 2024.
