‘She brings with her a wealth of experience and proven leadership from across the London market,’ says chief executive

Aegis London has appointed Charity Bare as its new chief risk and compliance officer.

In her new role, Bare will be responsible for a team of 16 people across Aegis London’s risk and compliance function.

She will also support Aegis London’s strategy of maintaining its position as a Lloyd’s syndicate.

The move comes after the firm expanded its leadership team with the appointment of William Cullen as its new non-executive director on 7 March 2025.

Speaking about joining the team, Charity said: “I’m looking forward to working with the wider team to build on the strong risk culture at Aegis London, while supporting the company in achieving its vision and strategic goals.”

Experience

Bare joins from Canopius, where she was most recently group risk director.

Before this, she held senior risk management roles at Brit, Talbot and Nephila. She also holds a master’s degree in risk management.

In her new role, Bare will report to Alex Powell, chief executive at Aegis London.

Powell said: “We are delighted to welcome Charity to Aegis London. She brings with her a wealth of experience and proven leadership from across the London market and is well-aligned to our vision of underwriting excellence.

”Her deep knowledge of risk, control and regulation will be crucial to Aegis London as we focus on achieving our strategic priorities in this ever-changing risk environment.”
