’This role involves keeping consumer issues forefront of the association’s thinking and I’m looking forward to driving the company’s financial inclusion strategy forwards,’ says new appointee

The ABI has appointed Sacha Romanovitch as its newest independent non-executive director, replacing the outgoing Baroness Dianne Hayter.

Romanovitch has taken up the role with immediate effect as of today (4 November 2024) and brings her experience of managing inclusion-focused financial organisations to the association.

Romanovitch was previously chief executive at not-for-profit organisation Fair 4All Finance, which aims to boost financial inclusion, and also previously worked as chief executive at accountancy firm Grant Thornton.

An ABI statement added that the new appointee was also “recognised for her work contributing to the diversity, equity and inclusion agenda and as an expert in developing company purpose”.

Organisational culture

Romanovitch will sit on the ABI’s board and join several committees, including audit and risk, consumer and the appointments and remuneration committees. She will also attend other groups, including the Consumer Advisory Group, which is made up of key figures from consumer advisory organisations such as Which? and Citizens Advice.

She commented: “This role involves keeping consumer issues forefront of the association’s thinking and I’m looking forward to driving the company’s financial inclusion strategy forwards.

“Insurance, protection and long-term savings are essential for financial resilience, so ensuring as many people as possible can access these products will deliver a brighter, fairer future for the UK.”

Baroness Nicky Morgan, chair at the ABI, said: ”Romanovitch is a fantastic appointment for the ABI as she combines an amazing CV or career achievement with a passion for making the world a better and fairer place.

“I’m confident that her experience with organisational culture and purpose can help the ABI go from strength to strength in being a great place to work that is also focused on the consumer.”
