Antur welcomes new MD
Welsh broker Antur Insurance has appointed a new managing director, David Roberts. Roberts has experience in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, service and finance. Antur has also created a new marketing manager role to which he has appointed Emma Pridmore.
Ring leads torus property
David Ring has joined global specialty insurer Torus to lead its newly created London-based general property team. Prior to Torus, Ring was at RSA for over 20 years in a variety of property underwriting roles around the world.
Ironshore healthcare teams up with allianz
Ironshore Insurance has entered into a collaborative agreement with Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty. The agreement will enable its healthcare division IronHealth’s life sciences unit to provide brokers with direct access to an Allianz underwriter to secure coverage for foreign clinical liability insurance needs.
H1N1 pandemic overhyped
Director general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Margaret Chan, admitted the H1N1 swine flu pandemic had turned out to be less serious than anticipated, according to reports. But, speaking at a meeting of the WHO in Geneva, she insisted that it was no time to relax as the pandemic was not yet over.
High five for fusion
Towergate-owned Fusion has made five appointments in its underwriting team, based in Scotland. Trevor Hillman has been appointed regional manager in Scotland, after spending 30 years at RSA. Alan McKay becomes senior trader after 20 years with AXA. Previously a trading underwriter at Aviva, Ian Taylor has also been appointed as a senior trader. Finally, Margaret Miller has joined as underwriting technician and Brian McDonagh has been promoted to trading underwriter in Scotland.
