Jelf’s Brewin goes Purple
Jelf-owned broker network Purple Partnership has appointed Les Brewin as managing director, replacing Bob Parkins, who is stepping down after two years. Parkins is returning to his own brokerage, PSP Insurance, but will remain with the network in a non-executive role. Brewin joined Jelf four years ago from RSA. Jelf Group commercial director, and chairman of Purple Partnership, Phil Barton said the network – which has 37 members – had exceeded its growth expectations.
Aon grows aviation division
Aon has moved to expand its aviation team with six new appointments. This follows the departure of a number of senior figures to JLT earlier in the year. Former Marsh aviation and aerospace vice-president John Westoby; Willis executive director Simon Blanden; Adam Hemingway of Marsh; and graduate trainees Christopher Percy and Martyn Chattey have all joined the broker. Meghan Walker will also join as a senior broker from Lockton in 2010.
EDBL ramps up affinity efforts
Equity Direct Broking Ltd (EDBL) has promoted sales director David Birch to managing director in an effort to expand its affinity business. The move follows a 28% growth in EDBL’s combined motor and home sales since the start of the year, the renewal of several strategic affinity partnerships, and the signing of new deals with high-profile brands including Spanish financial giant Banco Santander. Birch is also being appointed to IAG UK’s executive committee group.
