Allianz agrees deal
Allianz Commercial has agreed a three-year deal with Nottingham-based broker R A Cowen & Partners to be the principal provider for its SME business. Allianz’s small business team already has agreed similar tie-ups with Towergate Northampton and the Purple Partnership.
Lloyd’s opens in Brazil
Lloyd’s of London has opened Lloyd’s Brazil in Rio de Janeiro a year after receiving approval to become the first admitted reinsurer in the country. Lloyd’s has also agreed a partnership with the Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development to raise awareness of climate change in the country.
Confused.com expands
Confused.com has expanded its motor panel by adding women-only insurer Women on Wheels. Peter Ablett, the site’s commercial director, said more than one million women have visited Confused.com for a motor quote so far this year – an increase of nearly a third on last year. “By adding another female-only insurer, we can offer our female customers choice and competitive prices,” he said.
Brit appointment
Brit Insurance has appointed John King to the newly-created role of portfolio director – short tail. King, who starts his new job on 5 May, will report to Matthew Wilson, global markets CEO for Brit. As portfolio director, King will be responsible for the management and strategic development of the global markets property, marine and accident and health divisions. He previously worked for Beazley Group as an underwriter.
