JLT wins motor sport deal
The Motor Sports Association, the governing body of UK motor sport, has appointed Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) to handle all its insurance requirements from the start of 2008 following a formal tender process earlier this year. The contract had been held by Lockton, after its acquisition of Alexander Forbes International Risk Services business and related structure in November 2006.

MMA expands into shops
Intermediary-only insurer MMA Insurance has added its Shops product to the Acturis broker platform as part of an ongoing growth in commercial lines business. The product, which includes cover for buildings, stock, fixtures, business interruption and other retail associated risks, is the second MMA product collaboration with Acturis. MMA Offices and Property Owners products will be added in the future.

Assurant risk chief
Assurant Solutions has appointed Andy Challoner as
chief risk officer with
responsibility for leading the risk function in the UK and Ireland. Challoner will oversee and direct the development of risk management procedures across the Assurant Solutions companies in the UK and Ireland.

FSA slims down division
The FSA is cutting staff in its enforcement division by a third. About 10% of staff have been redeployed to other divisions within the organisation while the balance will be made redundant. The exercise is aimed at upgrading the quality of staff. The division has in the past been described as inflexible and suffering from a rules-based mentality.

Webline user milestone
Webline, the quote-and-apply portal, has announced that it has reached its 100 millionth quote since it was launched in 2000. In the first six months of this year, over 1,000 new firms have joined Webline’s user base, which now has more than 20,000 end-users, the company said.
