IIB calls for travel reform
The Institute of Insurance Brokers (IIB) has called for a regulatory distinction between advice-driven and "non-advised" sales of travel insurance. This, it said, would allow travel agents' exemption from regulation to continue, as long as they made it clear to consumers that they were selling the product without any advice.
Biba attacks regulations
Biba has come out against a two-tier regulatory system for claims management companies. Biba chief executive Eric Galbraith said: "While the regulation of claims management com- panies is to be welcomed in today's environment, it seems nonsensical to create a second tier of regulation for an intermediary sector that is already regulated by the FSA."
Arista launch products
Arista, the new commercial lines underwriting organisation, has started operations with the launch of products covering commercial combined, motor fleet, retailer and office insurance. New products including motor trade, property owners, contractors, all risks and licensed trade are set to follow.
