Fishburns has set its sights on being one of the biggest players in the London Market professional indemnity (PI) arena, now it has split from Morgan Cole.
Fishburn Morgan Cole, a division of Morgan Cole, split recently, having merged only in 1999.
Partner Antoine West said the firm was known for its PI work with construction and financial service companies, but wanted to branch out.
"We split so we could focus on our core strengths, to become the top PI practice," he said.
"On the construction side, we're the solicitors for the Royal Institute of British Architects' scheme, so we represent some of the top construction professionals.
"Our aspiration is to get the message across that we can provide the same strengths across the board."
West said the firm wanted to develop business with accountants, brokers, reinsurers and solicitors.
Reynolds Porter Chamberlain, Kennedys and Barlow Lyde Gilbert are among the top PI firms.
Fishburns has 11 partners and 28 other fee earners. John Cayton is senior partner.
