Fire damage restoration firms Munters, is dealing with a record number of lightning strikes on homes as storms occur across Britain.

Munters north of England area manager Neal Clarke said: "We have been inundated with calls over the past 24 hours. It is very unusual. We have never had so many calls over such a widespread area. Electrical storms are usually confined to a particular area. These strikes were all the way from
Glasgow to Portsmouth."

Munters urges householders to unplug all aerials, satellite cables and computers during a storm to prevent lightning from entering a property.
