International medical professional liability limits increased to £20m

The Medical Professional Liability Company (MPLC) has added two new Lloyd's Syndicates; Amlin Syndicate 2001 and Ark Syndicate Management Limited Syndicate 4020, to its medical professional liability underwriting facility.

Effective from 1st June 2010, these two new Syndicates will join the existing subscribing Syndicates, Brit Insurance Syndicate 2987 and Pembroke Managing Agency Limited Syndicate 4000.

The MPLC also confirmed that maximum limits available will increase to £20m (or currency equivalent) any one claim and £40m (or currency equivalent) in the annual aggregate.

John Young, managing director of The MPLC said: “Amlin and Ark are two of the most respected businesses at Lloyd’s underwriting this specialist class and their addition to our facility is testament to our track record.

"The increase in limits we are now able to provide is a direct response to the needs of healthcare clients who wish to be able to arrange cover with a company which is able to provide a total solution backed by a panel of well respected Lloyd’s Syndicates.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
