In less than two years Mondial Assistance's Travel Division has grown to be the UK's fourth largest travel insurer. It now has an annual revenue of approximately £24m.
This means it has already met its goal to be in the top five travel insurers by the end of 2002.
Mondial's travel director, Dennis Peckham, commented: "We face new challenges from the terrible events of 11 September and how we anticipate or react to issues stemming from that day will be a challenge to the industry as a whole.
"Although there may be a lull, we still perceive a big demand for travel insurers with an integrated global capacity and international network.
"We believe we are very well placed to profitably expand as part of the world's largest assistance group," he added.
Mondial is the UK arm of Amsterdam-based Elvia Travel Insurance International N.V.
