Darren Doherty, Jeff Turner and Catherine Bell elected at AGM yesterday
The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) elected three new members to its board at its annual general meeting yesterday.
Darren Doherty of Pioneer, Jeff Turner of Miramar and Catherine Bell of Inet3 joined existing directors Charles Earle of Arista, James Gerry of GB Underwriting and Nicholas Hales of R&Q who were re-elected at the meeting.
The MGAA’s board also includes a director to represent each of the two largest full members, a director elected by the insurer members and a director elected by the supplier members. These roles will continue to be fulfilled by Sian Fisher of OIM, Peter Hubbard of UK General, Keith Stern of Lloyd’s and Bobbie Turton of RSA.
Votes were cast by full members of the MGAA and the results independently scrutinised by David Matcham of the International Underwriters Association.
In addition, the MGAA board made association chairman Reg Brown an honorary life member.
MGAA managing director Peter Staddon said: “While longevity provides the MGAA board with continuity and a considerable depth of knowledge, new blood is essential to regularly revitalise the leadership team and stimulate new ideas. We are therefore very much looking forward to harnessing the combined skills of our new board to drive the association forward for the benefit of its members.”
