Allianz reacts to retirement of long-serving commercial boss
Allianz Commercial’s Simon McGinn has admitted replacing Chris Hanks as the insurer’s general manager will “be a tough act to follow”.
Insurance Times reported this morning that Hanks (above right) will retire from Allianz in 2013 after 45 years in the business.
McGinn, who is currently commercial broker markets director, said: “I am delighted to be taking over from Chris next year. He will certainly be a tough act to follow but I am looking forward to leading what is a very strong team to more successes.”
Allianz chief executive Andrew Torrance (left) also lavished praise on Hanks. He said: “Chris has been an outstanding leader of our commercial business, a core member of my management board and a great ambassador for both our company and profession. I would like to thank Chris for his exceptional contribution to our sustained success and wish him a long and happy retirement.”
He added: “I am delighted that Simon McGinn will succeed Chris as general manager. This will be a well-earned promotion for Simon and will ensure a seamless succession and consistent face to the market for this core area of our company.”
