Marsh has become the first broker in the UK to appoint an in-house adviser to work on complex construction projects.
Andrew Towers, a tunnelling engineer with 20 years experience, will join Marsh's Risk Consulting Practice, based in London.
He will support the construction team to provide underwriting data and risk management advice on tunnelling and construction.
Hugh Forster, managing consultant in Marsh's Property Risk Services, said: “Tunnelling projects are a placement challenge and require the strongest technical back-up, which is where Andrew will prove invaluable.
"His skills on complex construction projects will be a major benefit for Marsh's clients. Andrew's appointment is also a real first; no other broker has tunnelling expertise in-house."
Andrew joins from Halcrow Group where he worked on the design and construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
