Marsh has appointed Sir David Brewer as non-executive vice-chairman.
Brewer, the current President of the Insurance Institute of London, started his long career in the insurance industry in 1959, with Sedgwick Collins, which became part of Marsh.
He was later responsible for setting up the group office in China in 1981, opened a representative office in Mumbai in 1986 and obtained the first broker's authorisation in China in 1993. Brewer has most recently been working as consultant for Marsh.
Brewer commented: “I have the deepest affection for the company I joined 48 years ago. As the world's leading insurance broker and risk adviser Marsh has exciting plans that are geared to meeting the evolving needs of its clients. I look forward to working with Marsh's experienced UK team to achieve its goals.”
