Mike Bridgeman joins Markel from QBE

Markel International has appointed Mike Bridgeman to head the development of accident and health business within its specialty division. He joins the company on 1 May.

Bridgeman, who will be based in London, has more than 20 years of underwriting experience both in the Lloyd’s and company markets.

He joins Markel after 11 years at QBE where he was most recently head of accident and health.

He will be responsible for developing a broad-based accident and health account and establish a market-leading underwriting team, focusing on the following areas of business: London market/high risk, sports, schemes/affinity, corporate and SME.

Jeremy Brazil, president of Markel International Insurance Company said: "Mike has the ideal background to expand our accident and health account, so we are delighted that he will be leading this business line."
