Ewa Rose will head division along with three senior underwriters
Markel International has launched a new trade credit division, following the appointment of Ewa Rose in January 2010.
Rose, managing director of the new division, has been joined by a team of three senior underwriters; Adrian Jones, Simon Moon and Carl Titterton, who have moved to Markel International from ACE Group, where they worked alongside Rose when she headed ACE’s global trade credit business.
The trade credit division will provide non-cancellable cover against payment default risks for a broad range of trade sectors. Risks covered include insolvency, default, and political risk perils, such as currency inconvertibility and import/export licence cancellation.
Rose said: “The division is looking to work in partnership with companies that have good internal credit management. The team has in-depth knowledge of commercial counterparty and country risks across a wide variety of trade sectors. Our policies are structured to provide clients with certainty of cover and flexible, bespoke solutions.”
This is the second division to be launched by Markel International in the last 12 months, following the launch of an equine and livestock division in 2009.
William Stovin, Markel International president and chief operating officer, said: “The launch of the trade credit insurance division further demonstrates our commitment to broadening our portfolio of specialist insurance products and widening our international role. We are delighted to have attracted such a high-calibre and experienced team and look forward to them enhancing our reputation as a niche insurer.”
