Simon Wilson becomes Markel's director of international development
Markel International has appointed Simon Wilson as director of international development.
Wilson joins Markel International from Lloyd’s where, for the past three years, he was Lloyd's general representative in Singapore and managing director of Lloyd’s Asia.
During this time, he oversaw the development of the Singapore platform which now incorporates 17 Lloyd’s syndicates.
Wilson's responsibilities at Markel International will include project work and international business development. He will be based in London, although initially he will be seconded to Markel International’s Singapore office.
Prior to joining Lloyd’s Asia, he was the manager of international strategy and licence development for Lloyd’s Worldwide Markets, where he was responsible for the international research capability. He was also involved in the establishment of Lloyd’s China.
William Stovin, president and chief operating officer of Markel International, said: “I am delighted that Simon is joining Markel International. We have ambitious growth targets both at Markel International and across the corporation generally and I have no doubt that Simon will a great asset as we work through our plans for 2010 and beyond.”
