Lloyd's broker appoints division director

Newman Martin and Buchan (NMB), the independent Lloyd's insurance and reinsurance broker, has appointed Hilde Thon as a director of its energy division.

Thon, a Norwegian, has 25 years' experience in the marine and energy insurance broking sector and worked in the Norwegian insurance market before moving to London in 2005.

Andrew Draycott, managing director of NMB's energy division, said: "We are delighted to have Hilde join us. She brings a great deal of knowledge and experience of all aspects of energy account handling. She is liked and respected by clients and underwriters and I'm confident she will prove to be an asset to the division as we continue to expand our portfolio."

Thon says she is looking forward to working at NMB: "I have known NMB for many years and worked with them on placing business into London when I was in Oslo. NMB is a highly respected energy broker and has one the best resourced energy divisions in the market. It is this breadth of expertise that attracted me to the company and I am very much looking forward to being part of the team.
