Link Insurance has launched a young scooter driver policy.

Link chief underwriter Steve Tidd said: "This market has
traditionally suffered losses mainly due to the simple fact that young riders are unaware of the need to properly secure their scooters. Padlocking these bikes is not enough. They're so light that they can be carried away unless attached to a secure fixing. We want to encourage young drivers to take greater responsibility for their possessions - and more importantly, understand the consequences if they don't. Our product financially penalises the rider if their scooter is stolen or lost as a result of not being correctly secured.

"Policyholders must use the Thatcham Cat 3 locking device under the terms of the policy, and all policy documents are accompanied by an information leaflet."

Link has also created a claims handling package and negotiated discounted repairs to support its "lock it or lose it" policy.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
