Link Insurance has formed a partnership with IT risk management specialist Compucar to create a product for the motor trade.
The product will provide cover for normal car and road risks associated with motor traders, in addition to cover for courtesy and self-driver hire businesses, with all policies underwritten by Link Insurance Company.
Motor traders can access the new product by installing Compucar software on their systems, or accessing it through the internet, said Link.
Link Underwriting Agency head of fleet Rob Neale said: “Many insurers are moving away from non-main dealer motor trade business because they cannot actively control the risk.
“The team at Link works hard to find innovative solutions to enable us to write profitable risks. We like to find companies who have a niche specialist area and work with them to create new products for the market place.
“Compucar has a wealth of knowledge in this area so, when we were approached to develop a new product for the motor trade sector, we were delighted to join forces and create this unique scheme.
