For the eight day of advent, Florence Dennis, lead client advisor at broker Partners&, highlights the ‘best gift’ the industry could receive this Christmas
Every day for the festive period continuing until Christmas Eve, Insurance Times speaks to a selection of industry personalities about what they’d like to find under the tree for 2024.
What was your insurance industry highlight of 2023?
It has to be The Chartered Insurance Institute’s New Gen programme. Having the opportunity to meet and work with such an awesome group of young professionals was brilliant. We came together over a common topic – attracting young talent to insurance and created something we felt would help with the challenge.
We formed a really close unit along the way, so much so, we were sad when it all came to an end. But we did make sure to celebrate the end of the programme in style, heading out for dinner and drinks in London.
What is your Christmas message for your insurance colleagues?
Rest and recuperate. The world of insurance has been nonstop for a while, with some big challenges over the last few years. There is no such thing as a quiet period in our world and sadly it is often our ‘me time’ that takes the hit.
Burn out is an all too present thing and we can’t be on top form without taking time to recharge our batteries. The festive period is a perfect time to refill your cup – winter walks, spending time with loved ones or simply lounging on the sofa doing nothing – you have earnt the downtime!
What do you hope to find under the industry’s Christmas tree for 2024?
A soft market would be nice! Joking aside, I would love for insurance to be a career of choice. It is a great industry to work in and has so much to offer. I mean, insurance pretty much makes the world go round.
So, the best gift would be for that to be recognised and for people to view a career in insurance in the way they do accountants and solicitors.
