A new before the event (BTE) professional fees policy for personal injury claims is on the market.
BeTreatedEarly has been developed by claims specialists InterResolve and LAMP Services.
It is the first BTE professional fees policy to cover both rehabilitation and legal costs for PI claims. LAMP Services has designed the system to be used in conjunction with InterResolve's Bodily Injury Claims Scheme.
LawAlliance will provide claimants with legal advice.
Peter Ashdown-Barr, chief executive of InterResolve, said: “This is a first for the industry. It is actually focused on achieving an early resolution to claims providing care, independent legal advice and certainty not only for the claimant but for the claimant's lawyer and the liability insurers, who will be notified of the claims upfront before any costs are incurred.”
Alan Strange, underwriting director of LAMP Services, said: “LAMP believes that the claimant should be at the centre of the claims process. This policy enables them to benefit from the early intervention, both at a medical/rehabilitation level and at a legal level, which is key to their recovery. Such intervention is undertaken before the issue of liability is addressed – because that's when it's needed. But the way this policy is operated also helps look after the interests of liability insurers at the same time.”
