Insurers are gathering at a disaster HQ to coordinate their response to the attacks in New York, it was reported.
New York's chief insurance regulator has assembled representatives from some of the sector's largest companies at headquarters outside Manhattan this week to ensure constant contact during the current crisis.
Under a plan put together only in May, 15 US insurers including Chubb, AIG and Citigroup's Travelers unit have representatives to the department's offices in Albany, the BBC reported.
Travelers and fellow insurer Allstate have used mobile offices to establish insurance company catastrophe centers in New York.
