Niche UK general insurer, IGI Group has launched in London with an experienced team brought in from ACE Europe to target commercial property and combined package business.
The growing general insurer announced its expansion following a major investment by leading Icelandic insurer Vátryggingafélag ĺslands hf in February this year.
IGI's new Lime Street office is led by Tony Griffiths, a former member of ACE UK's management team, who has joined as director of IGI's London operations.Amanda Keer and Darren White have also joined IGI as London development underwriters from ACE.
The team, which is focusing on developing broker business in London, brings extensive experience and skills in commercial property and combined package products, IGI said.
Their appointments coincide with an extension of IGI's capacity and limits in these areas.
Keith Wardell, IGI Group chief executive, said: “This is an exciting new chapter in our growth strategy. With a combined 60 years of London market experience, Tony and his team are a great asset and will contribute significantly to the Group's planned growth and profitability targets.
"IGI's traditional strengths lie in writing residential and commercial let, caravan, pet, legal expenses and extended warranty cover. The new team will enable us to extend our offering to write all types of property and liability business including property damage, business interruption and employers, public and products liability."
