Broker boosted by £1.2m captital injection
Lloyd’s broker Houlder Insurance has appointed two former Marsh aviation specialists.
Simon Howell and Coran Barford joined its aviation division from Marsh as divisional director (Aviation) and associate director (Aviation) respectively.
Howell has 29 years experience trading within the global insurance and reinsurance markets. He specialises in the design, marketing and implementation of sophisticated reinsurance programmes for Underwriters participating in direct aviation business. Howell is also a pilot.
Barford has 24 years experience in the insurance industry and is a specialist in the broking, administration and servicing of a wide range of aviation business ranging from general aviation, vintage aircraft, aircrew personal accident and aircrew loss of licence to specific reinsurance products.
In addition to the two hires, Houlder has received a £1.2m capital injection from its parent China Merchant Group (CMG).
Company chairman Eric Zhu, said: “This investment underlines China Merchants Group’s ongoing support and confidence in the company and its prospects. Houlder has plans for growth and, with existing synergies amongst our operations in London, Hong Kong and mainland China where specialist expertise can be shared, it is well placed to serve all our clients across a wide geographic area.”
