GRP broking head and former boss at Towergate and AXA joins technology-driven group
Andy Homer has been appointed non-executive chairman of Hood Group, the data and technology driven insurance specialist which works with major brands including esure, Shelias’ Wheels, Asda Money and the RAC.
Formerly Towergate chairman and prior to that chief executive of AXA UK General Insurance, Homer (pictured) is currently chairman of Global Risk Partners’ retail broking operation. He is also an investor in start-up companies such as Bikmo and Bought by Many.
Homer said he is joining Hood at an exciting time in its development.
“Its passion for working with well-known brands and insurers is contagious and they’re leading the way in insurance offerings,” he said.
Hood chief executive Simon Hood added: “I have known Andy for a number of years and during that time he has always been interested in Hood Group. This interest has grown over the past year as we have embarked on our journey to transform insurance through innovation. His wealth of experience in our industry and passion for driving change through innovation will be a tremendous asset to our business as we work hard to achieve our ambitions.”
Homer will take over as chairman from Eric Cater, who has been with Hood Group since 1988 when he led a management buy-out with Bernard Hood. He will continue as a non-executive director.
