Aggregators offer inadequate advice on home policies, says research body.
The penetration of price comparison sites in the household insurance market is lagging behind that in the motor market, the latest report from Defaqto has claimed.
The research body said that of the 28 major price comparison sites, only five could be properly classified as aggregators, with the other simply offering access to online brokers.
The report echoed recent findings by Biba, with the warning that a number of sites were failing to treat customers fairly by offering inadequate advice.
It said: “The home insurance aggregation market needs to develop more to ensure that the consumer can make an informed decision to purchase their home insurance cover.”
