High street insurer Hill House Hammond (HHH) has acquired motor specialist Cheam Insurance Brokers. More than 7,000 policies have been transferred to HHH under the agreement.

Mike Mcfetridge has been appointed manager of the new unit and Mark Abbott, who worked for Cheam for eight years, will be responsible for managing new business.

Thirteen of Cheam's employees are to join HHH's new High Value Motor Unit in Croydon.

The director for acquisitions, Paul Tonkin, commented: "We are delighted to have acquired Cheam Insurance Brokers which has a strong presence and reputation in the specialist motor insurance market.

"Through our ongoing acquisition programme we fully recognise the value of such an established identity and consequently, we will continue to trade under the name of Cheam Insurance Brokers, as a member of the HHH group."
