Broker adds engineering group to its portfolio.
Heath Lambert Group has won a multinational account with FKI.
FKI, an engineering group, has offices in 17 countries in addition to the UK and a turnover of £1.4bn.
It was acquired by Melrose, an industrial investor, on 1 July and Heath Lambert has been appointed broker for the enlarged company.
Melrose has been a customer of Heath Lambert since 2006.
Heath Lambert will handle all of the general classes of insurances for FKI.
Simon Peckham, chief operating officer of Melrose, said: “We are delighted to have Heath Lambert on board as brokers.
“We have always found the team to be responsive to our changing needs and more than able to work with us to find comprehensive solutions that meet our insurance requirements.”
The deal follows the broker’s recent capture of a 10-year contract for the £15.9bn Crossrail project in London, one of the largest construction programmes in Europe.
Heath Lambert was awarded the contract ahead of rivals Marsh, Aon, Willis and JLT.
The independent broker’s success also follows the sale of its UK wholesale, reinsurance and aerospace divisions to Cooper Gay, and its global business solutions unit to Arthur J Gallagher earlier this year. The disposals are part of its strategy to focus on retail broking.
