Paul Bailie appointed managing director of Bermudan MGA
Hardy Underwriting Bermuda has appointed Paul Bailie as managing director of Hardy Bermuda, the group's managing general agent in Bermuda.
Bailie will commence this role with effect from 21 September 2009. Hel is currently a non-executive director of Hardy Underwriting Bermuda, a role he has fulfilled since its establishment in December 2007.
Bailie was previously chairman of JLT Insurance Management (Bermuda) Ltd, the insurance management and consulting operating subsidiary of the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group, a position he held from March 2007.
As managing director of HBL, Bailie will be responsible for the day to day running of HBL, for developing the Hardy brand in Bermuda, and for generating new business.
The company said it has commenced the search for an additional independent non-executive director and will make a further announcement in due course.

His industry and island knowledge has been invaluable to the Company in his role as a Non-executive Director and we are confident that this expertise will now enable him to drive forward the development of our Bermuda business."

Paul Bailie's biographical details are as follows:
Prior to accepting the role as Managing Director of HBL, Paul was the Chairman of JLT Insurance Management (Bermuda) Ltd., the insurance management and consulting operating subsidiary of the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc ("JLT"), a position he held from March 2007. He established JLT's insurance management presence in Bermuda in 2000 and has been responsible for its growth since that time. From 1997 to 2000, he was President of International Risk Management (Bermuda) Ltd. and prior to that was employed by Johnson & Higgins (Bermuda) Ltd. Prior to his career in Bermuda, Paul was a property broker at Harris Marrian Limited (Willis) in Belfast. Paul qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) in 1984.
