Guy Carpenter chairman Salvatore Zaffino has announced his retirement from the group.
“Sal has provided strong leadership throughout his eight years with the firm,” said David Spiller, president and chief executive, Guy Carpenter. “He has been a driving force behind the growth of the organisation and an inspiration through some difficult times. We wish him much continued success in all of his future endeavours.”
Zaffino was appointed chairman in 1999. He previously had served as chairman and chief executive of Sedgwick Re North America from 1993 to 1998. From 1985 to 1993, he was chairman of Crump Re, an organisation he created and continued to manage until its merger with Sedgwick Re.
Zaffino will continue in the role of non-executive chairman of Guy Carpenter working in a consultative role with senior management at both Guy Carpenter and MMC.
