Insurer will take on 34,000 policies from Southern Rock by the end of 2012
Groupama Insurances has signed an agreement to become the sole underwriter of motorcycle policies sold through eBike, the online motorbike insurance provider.
The deal will see the transfer of 34,000 live motorbike policies from eBike’s current underwriter, Southern Rock, to Groupama by the close of 2012.
eBike is part of the Brightside Group.
Along with offering cover for modern to classic motorbikes, eBike customers have the ability to obtain quotes and manage policy adjustments completely online.
Groupama Insurances motorcycle development underwriter Ian Pritchard said: “eBike and Groupama have significant synergies - not just in our understanding and knowledge of the motorcycle sector but in our whole approach to online technologies that streamline processes and provide slick service to customers.
The addition of eBike into the Groupama portfolio of motorcycle insurance products compliments and strengthens our position as one of the UK’s leading motorcycle insurers, with the necessary momentum to reach number one by the end of this year.”
Martyn Holman, chairman of Brightside Broking and head of insurer relationships, said: “This promises to be a great partnership, enabling eBike to leverage Groupama’s motorcycle underwriting skills to provide the whole scope of covers whether modern, classic or multiple bikes and riders.
“The eBike proposition is going from strength to strength and with Groupama Insurances as our underwriting partner we are planning to strengthen and develop our book of business through 2012 and beyond.”
