Groupama Insurance's chief executive Pierre Lefèvre has been appointed as chief executive of Groupama’s Italian subsidiary companies Groupama Assicurazioni, Groupama Vita and the newly acquired Nuova Tirrena.
Initially, Lefevre will be leading the project to merge the two operations to form what will become Groupama’s largest international subsidiary with €1.36 billion in premiums and over 1000 staff.
The merged business will form over 25% of Groupama’s international revenues.
Lefèvre is succeeded as chief executive by François-Xavier Boisseau who has stepped up from his position as managing director at Groupama Insurances.
He also assumes his responsibilities on the boards of the UK Group’s retail operations. He reports to Jean-Francois Lemoux, managing director, Groupama International.
The two appointments became effective on 1st November 2007.
Lefèvre said:: “I have had five very exciting years at Groupama in the UK and feel very pleased with what we have been able to achieve. I am especially grateful to François and to my other colleagues for the tremendous support and commitment that they have always shown. I am very grateful to Groupama for offering me this exciting new challenge in Italy. Although I will be sad to leave, the UK operation is in excellent hands, and I wish François and all my friends and colleagues within the UK business continued success.”
Boisseau added: “Pierre’s influence on our business has been significant and he leaves behind a strong legacy of consistent success. Whilst it is always sad to say goodbye to a friend, Pierre has a fantastic opportunity in Italy and we wish him every success in his new role.”
