Former Groupama corporate services director Paul Picknett also joins board
The deputy general manager of Groupama’s international division, Charles de Tinguy, has been named as the new non-executive chairman of Carole Nash and Bollington, Insurance Times can reveal.
De Tinguy has replaced Groupama Insurances chief executive François-Xavier Boisseau, who relinquished his role at both brokers following the insurer’s sale to Ageas last month.
Carole Nash and Bollington are part of GUK Broking Services, the UK broking subsidiary of French insurance group Groupama SA. Both businesses were put up for sale by the French insurer at the start of the year when it announced a sale of its UK assets. While it has successfully sold the insurance arm, the fate of some of the broking businesses remains undecided.
Motorcycle broker Carole Nash announced earlier this month it was no longer up for sale. But there has been no official announcement on the future of Bollington. However, the Macclesfield-based broker remains keen on a management buy-out.
Former Groupama Insurances corporate services director Paul Picknett has also joined the brokers’ board as non-executive director following his recent retirement.
Carole Nash chief executive David Newman (pictured), said: “The sale of Groupama Insurance Company Ltd, of which our chairman, François-Xavier Boisseau and non-executive director Roy Sampson are executives, has seen them transfer to the new Ageas owned business. As such, they are no longer able to hold board positions with Carole Nash. We are extremely grateful for the expertise and experience they have brought to Carole Nash in recent years and wish them all the very best for the future.
“In order to ensure the continued strength and stability of the Carole Nash board we have appointed Charles de Tinguy as chairman, subject to regulatory approval, and Paul Picknett as non-executive director.
“Both are highly experienced and respected senior insurance industry executives, with Charles being directeur général adjoint (deputy general manager) at Groupama’s international division, and Paul Picknett having been a long-serving Groupama executive and, until the change of ownership, the company’s UK corporate services director.”
Bollington declined to comment.
