Group Direct has created a UK insurance retail division to bring together its various insurance broking operations.
Martyn Holman will head up the division which will control more than £60m gross written premium in 2006.
Graham Powell will continue as managing director of Commercial Vehicle Direct, and Kevin Davies will continue as managing director of Motor & Home Direct and Taxi Direct.
Martyn Holman said: “The combined operation will provide a more coherent and effective force in the marketplace, and enable us to build stronger relationships with insurance companies and other business partners.”
The company said it plans to open a City office within the next three months.
As part of the restructuring Group Direct said it has appointed Mark Game as development director and Simon Jones as IT director.
Game joins from HSBC Insurance Marketing and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for wholesaling and extended underwriting facilities.
