Allianz Cornhill Engineering announces new changes to its southern regional team. Stephen Pierce and Adrian Burgess have been appointed as senior business development underwriters for the London office. Pierce, who joins the organisation from Zurich Engineering, has worked for more than 20 years in engineering insurance. Burgess has 14 years' experience of working across commercial insurance. Chris Ferguson, promoted to senior business development underwriter, has worked in the engineering insurance market for 15 years. Ferguson and his team will be managing the firm's relationship with brokers within the Kent, south London, Surrey and Sussex markets. Mark Smith has been promoted to senior business development underwriter and is based at the Woking office. Smith has worked in the market for 14 years. Alan Tucker, business development underwriter, has joined the Woking team from the London office. Tucker has gained eight years experience in the insurance industry and joined from CGU in 1999.
Fortis
Fortis Insurance, a UK subsidiary of Fortis Group, has appointed Barry Smith as its new chief executive. Smith has more than ten years' experience at director level, including at AA Insurance and latterly AXA Insurance.
Joint Hull Committee
Simon Beale, underwriter of the KJ Coles syndicate at Lloyd's, has been elected chairman of the Joint Hull Committee (JHC). The JHC is a joint initiative by the International Underwriting Association of London and Lloyd's Underwriters' Association. Its role is to support and develop the role of the London hull insurance market.
Beazley
Noemi Wall has been appointed assistant underwriter at independent Lloyd's managing agency Beazley. She will assist with the development of the political risk account on Beazley Syndicate 623. Wall began her underwriting career at Beazley in 1996 in the specialty products division focusing on financial institutions, commercial PI and D&O accounts. She rejoins the company after a year at ACE where she was a financial insitutions underwriter.
ACE
ACE has appointed Philip V Bancroft as chief financial officer. Bancroft will bebased in Bermuda and will report directly to chairman and chief executive Brian Duperreault. Bancroft worked for 20 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a partner for the past ten years.
SBJ Stephenson Group
SBJ Stephenson group announces the following appointments. Chris Green and Chris Ladkin have been appointed as joint regional managing directors at Professional in Bristol. Neil Hartley becomes Leeds regional manager. Both Ladkin and Hartley join the board of SBJ Stephenson group. Diane Ashworth and Steve Cresswell have been appointed as directors in New Malden, while Peter Shale has been appointed as director in Birmingham. Mark Westgarth has been appointed as director at Professional in Bristol.

Pet insurer Pinnacle Pet Healthcare has appointed Danuta Joyce as business development manager. She joins from a major pet insurance company where she introduced ISO 9001 quality procedures.

Ultimate Insurance Services, a subsidiary of BDML Holdings, has appointed Paul Hampshire as director, responsible for development.
NCM
Credit insurer NCM announces top management changes. Chief executive officer Gerard van der Stelt will be leaving on 1 February and will be replaced by Steen Parsholt, who is currently a member of the NCM Group managing board. Bas Sepers, who is currently regional director of NCM Benelux and director of medium term business, the Netherlands, joins the NCM Group managing board.
Westinsure
Westinsure expanded its West Country broking network on New Year's Day with the addition of a new partnership in Devon. Rodney Bennett Insurance Services joined the alliance and will trade as Rodney Bennett Westinsure from its high street location in Teignmouth.
GAB Robins
Paul Smith has been appointed national account director with responsibility for North American business at loss adjusters GAB Robins. He has more than 12 years' experience in the industry.
Cargo Solutions
Cargo Solutions Limited has appointed Nick Bignell as business development manager. Bignell joins Cargo Solutions Limited from Willis Ipswich where he was a divisional director. He has more than 20 years' experience in the cargo risk sector. In this new role he will be responsible for business development in the UK as well as supporting activities in Europe, Latin America, North America and the Far East.
Kennedys
Nick Thomas, senior partner at Kennedys has been re-elected for the period 1 January 2002 to 31 December 2002. Thomas was one of the youngest senior partners in the City when first elected five years ago. During his term of office the firm has expanded with three international offices and a further three UK offices. It also appointed its first chief executive.
Rosling King
Henrietta Crompton and Suzannah Brown have been made associates at law firm Rosling King. Crompton joined the firm as a trainee in 1996 and gained experience in various forms of litigation, mainly in actions for insurers. Brown came to the firm as a qualified solicitor in 2000. She joined the insurance team and has expertise in all forms of insurance defence litigation, principally personal injury and professional negligence.
