Broker-only insurer MMA Insurance has appointed Martin Smith as its compliance manager. He has more than 20 years' experience in financial services, most recently with Halifax in various locations.

DAS
John Richards has been appointed assistant motor claims manager to oversee the new ULR claims units. This further expansion of the management team at the Bedwas, South Wales office fits in with an overall restructure.

Having been an early recruit to the South Wales centre nearly a decade ago, he will additionally work on claims where a third party insurer has not been identified. This involves liaison with policyholders' own insurers and, through them, the Motor Insurance Database together with the Motor Insurers' Bureau.

Iron Trades
Nick Martens has been appointed as a risk consultant at Iron Trades Insurance Company, part of the QBE Group.

Martens, who is a nationally elected council member and director of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH), joins Iron Trades from St Paul International Insurance where he worked as a risk manager.

Ecclesiastical
Catherine Taylor has been appointed as intermediary services manager at Ecclesiastical Insurance. She has more than 20 years' industry experience and joins from Norwich Union.

Cornhill Schemes
Cornhill Schemes has appointed Steven Burrell as business manager, sales and marketing. He previously worked in Cornhill's life division.

BROKERS
Bland Bankart
Andrew Flavell joins Bland Bankart as broking team leader. He has more than 17 years' experience in the insurance industry and has worked for Norwich Union, Guardian Royal Exchange and Sun Alliance.

TECHNOLOGY
Chase IT Services
Chase IT Services has appointed Ken Hare as business requirements analyst.

Previously he worked for ten years as informations systems manager at a Lloyd's underwriting agency . He also worked at IT services company CMG in a variety of roles, including managing director of the financial services sector and managing director of the UK management consultancy division.

CCL Group
Dorset-based Car Crash Line (CCL) Group has appointed Alan Frost as a non-executive chairman. He is a former managing director of Abbey Life Assurance Company.

Joslin Rowe
Recruitment consultancy Joslin Rowe, a member of The Blomfield Group, has appointed four new consultants to its insurance and financial services divisions.

Andrew Barrett joins the insurance broking team. Prior to joining Joslin Rowe, he worked for Reed Insurance Selection and has a total of three years insurance recruitment experience. Previously he spent more than 11 years working within the company, Lloyd's and broking markets.

Tamsin Leary has joined the financial services side of the business. She previously worked for Hillman Saunders and IRG.

Tinna-Maria Beisha has joined the company having worked for Reed Insurance Selection recruiting financial advisers in the tied market and Lloyds TSB providing financial advice. She will be joining the financial services team. Also joining the team is Simon Sugrue who worked as an IFA for seven years and before that worked for three years within the money markets. Prior to joining Joslin Rowe, he worked for Hays Inter-selection.

Composite Legal Expenses
Ben Hawkins has joined Composite Legal Expenses as a business development manager. He joins from DAS.

Cubitt Consulting
Ross Gow has joined Cubitt Consulting as director of its newly formed insurance division, operating out of London and New York. He was previously head of marketing at Sherwood International.

Munters
Charlie Scott has been appointed as UK business development manager at Munters' moisture control services division.

He joins from Nottingham-based benefits consultancy Churchills International where he was corporate manager.
