FMW Emma Dowsing has been appointed marketing coordinator by Chelmsford-based broker FMW.Dowsing has previously organised promotional and marketing events in the fashion and marketing industries. She will be working alongside Scott Lester, FMW's marketing coordinator.
Argyll Insurance GroupSussex-based Argyll Insurance Group has appointed Chloe Wheal as marketing officer and Lisa Jordan as accounts assistant. Jordan joins Argyll from Eurolink Printing, where she had worked since 1998 as an accounts clerk. Wheal joins Argyll following her studies at Northbrook College, Sussex, from where she recently graduated in business and marketing. She will be taking responsibility for Argyll's marketing and PR.
Manson Warner HealthcareManchester-based private medical and employee benefits consultant Manson Warner Healthcare has appointed Allison Knowles as healthcare administrator.Knowles joins from Bupa medical insurance, where she held a similar role.
Bollington Bollington has made three appointments to its new regional offices.Jayne Short joins from Marsh, where she spent 24 years and was formerly an associate director. Short will run the Carlisle office, covering the North.Haydn Fields joins from Hendersons and will cover Yorkshire and the East Midlands. Sarah Longman, previously an account manager at Capita, will be based in Bristol to develop Western England and Wales.
Sterling Hamilton WrightLloyd's broker Sterling Hamilton Wright (SHW) has appointed three starters within its wholesale operation.Rachel Baldock has been appointed as account handler, liability, in its commercial division. Baldock has seven years' industry experience, having started her career at Stafford Knight Insurance Brokers in 1997. Cath Ward has been appointed as account executive, agency management and marketing. Ward has 18 years' experience, gained mostly in a broking environment. In her new role, she will be based in SHW's York office, supporting its agents in the North West.Julian Cawthorne has been appointed account executive, agency management and marketing. Cawthorne will also work out of the York office, servicing the West Midlands. He joins from RK Harrison, where he worked in business development for commercial fleet.

Alea GroupAlea Group Holdings, a global reinsurance and specialty insurance company, has appointed Kirk Lusk as group senior vice president, strategic planning and corporate development.Lusk has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, with particular knowledge of underwriting, operations and strategic business analysis. Lusk joins Alea after holding several positions at General Electric, GE Capital and Travelers.
Fusion InsuranceFusion Insurance has created three new senior positions to provide broker support.Keith Jackson has been appointed general manager, North. His role is to support the strategic development of Fusion's branches in Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester. Steve Williams has been appointed general manager, South, to carry out the same role for the St Albans, Bristol, Birmingham and London branches.In addition, John Birchall has been appointed as strategic relationship manager. His main responsibility is the coordination of activities aimed at servicing the specific needs of multi-location brokers.Prior to these appointments, Jackson was executive manager, Scotland, Williams was executive manager, Bristol and Birchall was executive manager, Leeds.
XL CapitalXL Capital has appointed Evelyn Wolovnick as senior vice president and head of global sales and marketing for its insurance operations. In her newly-created position, Wolovnick will be responsible for integrating global insurance sales and marketing, reporting to Dennis Kane, chief executive of regional sales and management.She has 32 years' industry experience and began her career at Marsh & McLennan Companies in 1972.
Lloyd's Lloyd's has appointed Luke Savage as its new finance director.Savage has worked in investment banking for the last 17 years, including ten years at Morgan Stanley as financial controller and three years at Lloyds Bank. Since 2000 he has been global head of equity control at Deutsche Bank (UK). At Lloyd's, Savage will be responsible for finance and risk management, leading a team of 146. He will be an executive member of the Lloyd's franchise board. He replaces Andrew Moss, who left Lloyd's earlier this year to become group finance director at Aviva.
MPLCThe MPLC (Medical Professional Liability Company) has appointed Doug Walker as its UK national business development manager, based in London. Walker's new responsibility is the development of UK healthcare business on both a national and regional basis, concentrating on private hospitals, clinics, care homes, medical employment agencies and other corporate healthcare organisations. Walker joins the MPLC following four years at Willis, where he was primarily involved in the UK Healthcare sector working on a number of the largest UK healthcare providers. Prior to this, he worked at the CU for ten years.
Travel Insurance FacilitiesTravel Insurance Facilities has appointed Richard Smith as assistant underwriter for the UK branch of URV. Smith will work on the development of new travel insurance business and the renewal of existing contracts from its Tonbridge base. He joins Travel Insurance Facilities from Travel and General Insurance Services, where he was an account manager. Prior to that he spent four years with travel insurance specialist Inter Group.
Amber CreditRob Fry has been appointed as managing director of Amber Credit. Amber Credit has also appointed Dawn Wilson as regional account manager, Midlands; and Emma Parr as regional account manager, North.Wilson was previously at Singer Friedlander, and Parr has worked for Groupama Insurance for the past ten years, most recently as development executive.
DLA DLA has expanded its reinsurance/insurance team with the appointment of a new partner from Eversheds. David Murphy will join DLA from Eversheds' London office later this year, working alongside Charles Gordon and Neil Ellis, who head up the firm's insurance risk solutions team.
QuestGatesGraeme Monce, previously business development director at Cunningham Lindsey, has joined specialist loss adjuster QuestGates in a similar role.Monce will work alongside managing director Chris Hall to develop the company's service offering. He takes up his new position with immediate effect.
Small Business CouncilSecretary of State for Trade and Industry Patricia Hewitt has appointed John McLaren-Stewart to the Small Business Council (SBC), an advisory non-departmental public body, which represents the views of small businesses to government.McLaren-Stewart is chief executive of Alliance Insurance Management, an insurance company based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.One of nine new council members, he set up Alliance in 2000. The company now employs 40 staff across four offices (Bury St Edmunds, Peterborough, March, and London). The SBC is involved in a range of issues, including employment legislation, skills provision, access to finance, better policy making and improved business support.
Company focusTom Cooper has been promoted to the role of associate director, product development at Budget Insurance Services.Cooper will take on greater responsibility for all non-motor products, developing strategic relationships with existing panel members, and strengthening the product range throughout the group. He joined Budget through the Dial Direct acquisition. Prior to this, he worked at NIG for 12 years. Will Price has joined the Budget product development team as senior manager, motor, and is responsible for the continuing development of strategic partnerships with panel members for both motor and commercial vehicle. Price began his career at Budget, joining shortly after the company was set up in 1992. His most recent role was IT development manager. Liz Risk has joined Budget as product manager, motor. Reporting to Will Price, Risk will be responsible for managing insurer relationships and maintaining and developing the motor insurer panel and products. She began her career with Jardine Lloyd Thompson, working within its personal lines/affinities division. She moved from broking to underwriting in 1999. Prior to joining Budget, she was motor schemes underwriter for Norwich Union.Submissions
