Liberty Syndicate 190
Liberty Syndicate 190 has appointed Keith Chamberlain as modelling analyst. His role will be to conduct risk management primarily for the syndicate's property catastrophe account.

Chamberlain joins Liberty from Hart Re where he was catastrophe analysis specialist for pricing treaty programme and managing portfolio aggregates. He has more than 30 years of underwriting experience both inside and outside the Lloyd's market.

Chaucer Syndicates
Chaucer Syndicates has announced the appointment of Brian Everall to underwrite a financial institutions account on behalf of its non-marine Syndicate 1096.

Everall joins from The FirstCity Partnership where he was a main board director and divisional leader of the financial risks group.

He has more than 25 years' experience both as a broker and underwriter in the same class of business.

XL London Market
XL London Market has appointed Paul Drake to its main board. As director of risk management he will take overall responsibility for the group's risk control areas, including outward reinsurance, risk aggregation, broker credit and trading issues, delegated authority and underwriting management.

Drake has worked in the London Market for 23 years. He joined XL London market from Cottrell Maguire in 2001 having spent 11 years with RJ Kiln. He was a director of both these agencies.

CJ Coleman
CJ Coleman Holdings announces the appointment of Anthony M. Blake as a consultant. Blake recently retired as a senior partner of Mazars Neville Russell.

Institute of Insurance Brokers
Bryan Whicher has been appointed to the board of the Institute of Insurance Brokers. He is a director of Whichers Boylan and James Insurance Brokers of Croydon

Jardine Lloyd Thompson
Jardine Lloyd Thompson announces the appointment of Simon Rigby as head of personal lines, affinity partnerships, as part of an expansion in this area.

Rigby, who has experience in this sector with Heath Lambert and latterly at Accidentcare Group, will be responsible for developing relationships with key affinity partners including major employers, member affinities and retailers.

Reich Insurance Brokers
Simon Taylor, former UK client director for Capita McLarens, has joined Reich Insurance Brokers as a partner.

Independent broker Reich has offices in Manchester and London and specialises in property owner business and offers a full range of covers. Taylor has been in the insurance industry since 1984

Budget Insurance Services
Budget Insurance Services has appointed Cheryl Clifford as human resources director. She will be responsible for all aspects of human resources, training and development.

Clifford has wide business experience in manufacturing, logistics, telecommunications and research and development.

Actuaries

Watson Wyatt
Watson Wyatt has strengthened its insurance and financial healthcare team with the appointment of Sue Elliott, Mike Williams and Patricia Abiola.

Elliott joins as a senior consultant after 18 years with M&G Re/Swiss Re Life & Health where she was health business manager.

Williams also joins as a senior consultant where he will assist clients in health insurance and related programmes.

Abiola joins as a consultant and brings 14 years' knowledge and experience of public sector healthcare and business environment.

Legal

Davies Lavery
Davies Lavery has appointed Maryam Taher to the marine and transit department. She joins the London office of Davies Lavery having trained at Clyde & Co, qualifying in 1992.

Taher has worked for Ocean Marine Mutual, acting for shipowners and charterers. She joins from W K Webster & Co where she was legal counsel for all legal work in the UK, the US, Singapore, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Morgan Cole
Morgan Cole has promoted insurance specialists Neil McLaughlin and Antoine West to partners.

McLaughlin joined the firm in 1992 and was admitted as a solicitor in 1994. His work includes occupational disease claims, employer and public liability claims, policy disputes and professional indemnity.

West has been with the firm since 1996 when he joined as a junior asistant. He specialises in a broad range of insurance matters including professonal indemnity, coverage disputes and drafting of policy wording.

Holman Fenwick & Wilan

Holman Fenwick & Wilan announces the election to the partnership of Alistair Johnston and Costas Frangeskides in the London office and Edouard Taÿ-Pamart in the Paris office.

In addition, Rory Gogarty has joined the London office as a partner. He was formerly at Herbert Smith.

Elliotts Solicitors
Elliotts Solicitors has promoted Carole Spiller to associate in the litigation department. She has been with the firm since 1994 as a trainee solicitor, qualifying in 1996.

She has specialised in litigation on personal injury cases as well as representing commercial clients.

In the past year, she has been instrumental in establishing and developing Lincolns Solicitors, the new division of the practice to deal exclusively with claimant work.

Composite Legal Expenses
As part of its expansion programme Composite Legal Expenses has appointed Alan Walters as claims operation manager.

He will be responsible for solicitor liaison, compliance and the development of Composite's outsourcing services.

Walters joins from Zurich Insurance.

Healthsure

HealthSure
Following extensive training Joanne Coulthard has been promoted to account development coordinator at healthcare cash plan provider HealthSure.

Coulthard will promote and service corporate accounts in the Oldham, Rochdale, Trafford Park and central Manchester areas.

Flagship Group
Barnaby Fry has recently joined Flagship Group to assist Andy Berry in the creation of a specialist insurance PR team. He previously ran the insurance team at Citigate Dewe Rogerson

Focus Solutions Group
Sales automation specialist Focus Solutions Group has appointed Clive Peters ashead of service delivery.

He will be responsible for delivering Focus Solutions' revenues forecasts and managing the services that help customers implement the company's technology.

Peters will also be overseeing the entire sales process - from initial consultations through to implementation and delivery.

Institute of Internal Auditors
Terry Cunnington has been elected deputy president of the Institute of Internal Auditors, UK and Ireland (IIA) He assumes the role in September 2002 and will take over as president after a year.

Cunnington is director, risk assurance, for the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange. He is responsible for providing both the internal audit and enterprise-wide risk management services.
