The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) has today named David Gittings as its new chief executive.
Gittings, formerly group head of risk at Wellington, will concentrate on developing a more proactive focus for the LMA through the alignment of the needs of Managing Agents and the Franchisor.
Gittings said: “The LMA is a well established and influential association which can help the Franchisor and the whole market to work together. As its Chief Executive, I look forward to securing a successful future for the market in accordance with the vision of its members, the Managing Agents and Syndicates which carry on the business of underwriting at Lloyd's.”
Andrew Kendrick, chairman at LMA, said: “David's appointment will be widely welcomed by the market. His knowledge of the industry and of technical, regulatory and underwriting issues will prove a great asset to the membership.
“It has been a pleasure working with Simon Sperryn, who hopes to remain in the market. Since 2001 when he joined the LMA, Simon has successfully brought together the disparate interests of four distinct underwriting sectors with those of managing and members' agents to form a representative and powerful market voice, which is today recognised as the Lloyd's Market Association. We thank him for his hard work and wish him well for the future.”
