Consolidator Giles invests in new office for Welsh operation
Giles Insurance Brokers has invested £0.5m in a new regional ‘super office’ in Llantrisant, South Wales.
First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, joined Giles’ chief executive, Chris Giles, and Mike Jones, regional managing director at the official opening of the new office, located at Magden Park, Llantrisant.
The investment is one of the most significant made in recent years by Giles as it eyes significant growth in the Welsh market.
Giles first made the move to Wales two years ago when it bought broker Hedges and Rose. Since then, it has acquired an additional five brokers.
The decision to integrate the majority of its businesses into Magden Park comes at a time when the company embarks on a new period of growth, looking to expand both its client base and its team in the coming months.
The new 10,000 sq ft premises will give the company a more prominent base from which to service existing and future clients.
Carwyn Jones said: “Giles Insurance is an important business for Wales and I am delighted to see their confidence in the Llantrisant team and commitment to expanding the business further. They are a perfect example of what other businesses in Wales can achieve. I wish them every success in their new building and in future endeavours.”
Mike Jones, regional managing director, said: “Our senior management team, which comprises the original directors from our previous acquisitions in Wales, continues to take an active role in the development and direction of Giles in the region.
“Over the past couple of years, in particularly the last 12 months, we have experienced a phenomenal level of growth. This in turn has led to additional recruitment to make sure we are in a position to fully service our clients’ needs, creating further job opportunities in the local area.
“Our decision to invest so significantly in Wales shows that this region is of particular importance to us and our growth plans. We are thrilled to be in a position to make such an investment and will soon start a brand new recruitment campaign.”
