Former Gallagher chief underwriting officer named non-executive director of new division
Former Gallagher International chief underwriting officer Sian Fisher has joined the board of Lloyd’s managing agency Asta’s new MGA division.
Fisher has been named a non-executive director of Asta Underwriting Management (AUM). The new division, which provides backing to start-up MGAs, launched in July.
AUM’s first MGA is Pelican Underwriting Management, which writes solicitors’ professional indemnity business.
Fisher anounced her departure from Gallagher last August after eight years at the broker, saying that the time was right to seek a fresh challenge.
Commenting on her new role, Fisher said: “Although AUM is a new venture, it comes with the Asta pedigree and solid reputation.
“I look forward to working with the AUM team to help develop and build the business.”
Asta chief executive Julian Tighe added: “I am very much looking forward to working with Sian, her experience of building businesses combined with her market knowledge will be a fabulous asset for Asta.
“I believe Sian’s enthusiasm for the role is a great endorsement of our business which positions us well to achieve our growth objectives.”
Fisher joined Gallagher when the broking group acquired underwriting agency Oxygen Insurance managers, of which she was a founding director, in 2008.
She was previously managing director of Lloyd’s insurer Hiscox’s UK-regulated insurance company.
