Jennifer Martin promoted after firm consolidates financial lines business
Arthur J Gallagher-owned underwriting agency Pen Underwriting has promoted Jennifer Martin to managing director of financial lines.
In her new role Martin takes responsibility for UK and international financial lines including e-traded, individually-underwritten and delegated authority business.
The hire follows Pen’s consolidation of its financial lines business, which brought together direct and delegated authority underwriting for professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ liability, personal accident & travel, and cyber risks.
The financial lines division is part of Pen’s specialty division, led by managing director Tom Downey.
Martin joined Pen in January 2015 as managing director of international delegated solutions, responsible for expanding the company’s delegated authority business into international territories.
She previously worked at rival underwriting agency DUAL International, where she was most recently director of underwriting – Europe.
Downey said: “Financial lines is a core specialty for Pen Underwriting — one where we are actively investing in our existing expertise as well as looking to diversify into new areas.
“As a financial lines underwriter by trade, with more than 25 years’ experience, Jennifer has an acute understanding of the market’s evolving risks and focus on anticipating and responding to changing customer needs.
“This, combined with her extensive leadership experience both for UK and international business, makes her the ideal individual to lead our newly combined team, drive the development of best of breed propositions and ensure we continue to deliver on our promise of being easy to do business with — however our customers choose to trade with us.”
